Two Contract Servicemen Died in Road Accident in Syunik

According to Shamshyan.com, a major and tragic road accident occurred in the Syunik region on May 2. Around 23:40, two vehicles collided at the 380th km section of the Yerevan-Yeraskh-Meghri-Iran state border. The accident involved a Toyota Vitz driven by 25-year-old Armen Aharonyan from the town of Meghri with license plate 35 VR 168, and a KamAZ driven by 33-year-old Narek Tatosyan from Sisian with license plate 07 SO 540.

Photographer Gagik Shamshyan reports that as a result of the collision, both vehicles went off the roadway and ended up in a ravine. Aharonyan died on the spot, while Tatosyan was transported to the medical center in Meghri, where he succumbed to his injuries hours later in the intensive care unit.

Rescuers and the servicemen of the second platoon of the 2nd squad of the road police quickly extracted the deceased and the injured from the ravine. According to the photographer, the KamAZ overturned, while the Toyota Vitz flipped over.

As per Shamshyan's information, the deceased were brothers who served as contract servicemen in the RA Ministry of Defense's N military unit. Officers from the second platoon of the road police, led by platoon commander Gegham Margaryan and squad commander Armen Sargsyan, also arrived promptly at the scene.
