R. Melikyan Discusses Two Deaths Following Air Ambulance Transfer

The former Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Artsakh, Ruben Melikyan, finds it concerning that reports have emerged indicating that not one, but two people died after being transferred from Vanadzor Medical Center to Yerevan by an air ambulance.

"This information is extremely troubling concerning the consequences of operating helicopters that are presumably not specially equipped for patient transfers," Melikyan expressed on his Facebook page.

"This raises concerns about the protection of the right to life and the state's positive obligations in this regard. The NGO 'Legal Path' is prepared to provide necessary legal assistance to the relatives of the deceased regarding this issue," he stated.

Earlier, reports indicated that a 68-year-old man did not die in the hospital but rather on the helicopter during transport, with various specialists having previously raised concerns that these helicopters were not equipped to provide medical services.

Today, Armdaily.am reported that two patients were transferred by helicopter and both have since died. According to the media outlet, it has been confirmed that not just one, but two deaths have been recorded among the patients transferred by the helicopter, with one occurring at the 'Astghik' Medical Center and the other at the 'Erebuni' Medical Center.
