Fines for Not Having Mandatory Vehicle Insurance Resuming from May 6

Fines for Not Having Mandatory Vehicle Insurance Resuming from May 6

The Road Police informs that from May 6, 2019, the process of imposing administrative liability for not having a mandatory vehicle insurance contract will resume, with fines amounting to 5,000 drams, in accordance with the Administrative Offenses Code of the Republic of Armenia.

At the same time, it is reminded that according to the laws on "Mandatory Insurance for Liability Arising from the Use of Motor Vehicles" and "Ensuring Road Traffic Safety" in Armenia, it is mandatory to conclude a mandatory vehicle insurance contract. According to the Administrative Offenses Code, not having a mandatory vehicle insurance contract incurs administrative liability with a fine of 5,000 drams for every 10 days without the insurance contract.

Driving a vehicle that has been temporarily removed from registration for not concluding a mandatory vehicle insurance contract also incurs administrative liability. Specifically, this includes several violations (driving without license plates, without mandatory insurance, without a registration certificate), and even in cases where all the violations are examined simultaneously, it will lead to a fine of up to 100,000 drams.

We urge drivers to conclude a mandatory vehicle insurance contract and only drive their vehicles if they have such a contract.
