Alternatives to Lars: There are roads that have not been repaired for 15-20 years, Hakob Arshakyan

The Minister of Transport, Communication and Information Technologies, Hakob Arshakyan, is in agreement that the modernization of road infrastructure is crucial for an economic revolution, as it also connects to the outside world.

In an interview with a Tert.am correspondent, he mentioned that it is for this very understanding that the government will allocate an additional 5 billion drams for road construction this year, both for interstate and adjacent roads. He stated, 'I believe we will feel the effect of this by the end of the year because we have roads that have not been repaired for 15-20 years, and there, of course, we have serious problems. Among these roads are those connecting to Iran and Georgia.'

Discussing alternatives to Lars, Arshakyan noted that the process is slowing down not due to the Armenian side. He emphasized that negotiations are mainly within the framework of the Russian-Georgian agenda. 'Negotiations are between two different countries, and we are the third party, the interested side, but not directly involved,' said Arshakyan. When addressing the possibility of constructing a railway with Iran, which has been the subject of many discussions, he stressed that like any investment project, this must be calculated. He assured that there are no political issues at play.
