It's Time for Armenia to Be Part of the New Silk Road: Armen Sarkissian
The President of the Republic of Armenia, Armen Sarkissian, met on April 4 with Shen Yueyue, the Vice Chairwoman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of the People's Republic of China, and her delegation.
According to the Public Relations Department of the Office of the President of the Republic of Armenia, while welcoming the guests, President Sarkissian emphasized that Armenia and China are ancient states with a cooperative history spanning centuries, dating back to the times of the Silk Road. He underscored the significance of developing this cooperation in the 21st century within the framework of China’s “Belt and Road Initiative” led by the country’s top leadership. "It’s time for Armenia to be part of the new Silk Road," stated President Armen Sarkissian.
Shen Yueyue highlighted the importance of the friendly relations with Armenia, mentioning the need to activate existing cooperation.
Both parties emphasized that there is significant potential for enhancing the development of relations between Armenia and China, which must be realized. They particularly noted the importance of expanding cooperation in areas such as infrastructure development, mining, environmental protection and tourism, as well as high technology and artificial intelligence.
