Major General Samvel Karapetyan Dismissed from the Position of Deputy Minister of Defense of Artsakh
Samvel Karapetyan, who held the position of Deputy Minister of Defense of the Republic of Artsakh, is leaving his post.
“Today, on April 2, according to my report, after nearly three decades of service in the Defense Army, first as a volunteer and then as a regular army soldier, I am resigning from the position of Deputy Minister of Defense of the Republic of Artsakh and being discharged from the armed forces.
I leave with pride, as those years stand out in my biography for both significant military achievements of national importance and for the immortal memories associated with many comrades endowed with humanistic and patriotic qualities.
During my military service in the Defense Army, the time when I served as the commander of the legendary Central Defense Area's ЦОР holds a special place for me. As the main strike force of the army, from 1992 to 1994, the unit participated in nearly all combat operations conducted along the frontline from the Araks to Omar, achieving its objectives brilliantly. Today, I can proudly state that, thanks to the decisive actions of the personnel operating under your humble servant's command, not only was it possible to halt the enemy near the Khachenaget in the fall of 1992, but transitioning from defense to counteroffensive, we first liberated more than thirty previously occupied Armenian villages and subsequently continued the advance by destroying around 60 enemy strongholds. It is particularly symbolic that one of these, the Karvachar military base, was neutralized exactly 26 years ago on this same day, April 2.
It is also symbolic that 23 years after that military operation, on April 2, 2016, again on this day, as Deputy Minister of Defense, during the battles I led in the Seysulan direction of the Martakert frontline, we were able to inflict significant losses on the enemy and maintain our defense securely.
Taking this opportunity, I pay my respects to all the heroic martyrs whose dignified combat path I have traversed.
I am grateful and indebted to all my comrades who during both the first Artsakh war and the April four-day war upheld the name and honor of the Armenian soldier with their actions, and who continue with unwavering dedication to honorably fulfill the sacred mission of defending the homeland.
I express my gratitude to the enlisted personnel, sergeants, lieutenants, officers, and high command of the Defense Army for our joint service and I am confident that as until today, the armed forces of Artsakh will honorably accomplish any combat task placed before them.
In concluding my remarks, I assure you that the army has been, is, and will remain at the center of my daily reflections, and when danger threatens the homeland, without losing a moment, I will stand again among its ranks.
Wishing the best and goodness to all of us,” stated Major General Samvel Karapetyan in a statement released by Artsakhpress.
