Director of Yerevan State College of Light Industry Embezzles Approximately 6 Million Drams

Based on operative information received by the Organized Crime and Corruption Prevention Department of the Police of the Republic of Armenia, and following operational-investigative measures taken by the department's officers, preliminary findings indicate that the director of the Yerevan State College of Light Industry has misappropriated funds during the period of 2014-2019.

The director, misusing his official position, had registered two individuals as cleaners who, in reality, did not attend work and did not fulfill their job responsibilities. Salaries amounting to 3,904,000 and 2,000,000 drams were withdrawn from the state budget in their names, yielding a total approximately of 5,905,000 drams that were subsequently received and embezzled in their stead.

A criminal case has been initiated at the Organized Crime and Corruption Prevention Department, and it has been forwarded to the Investigative Committee of Armenia for further investigation.
