The People Brought Us Here, and Only the People Can Remove Us: Pashinyan

There is no place for old discourse in new Armenia, stated Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during his closing remarks on the government program discussion in the National Assembly today.

He hesitated for a few seconds, contemplating whether to say it publicly, but ultimately decided to proceed.

“What has been the primary issue for any government? It has been maintaining power, and the entire logic of actions has been shaped accordingly. Ultimately, why have elections been falsified? Because the number one issue has been maintaining power. Why have there been political prisoners in the country? Because the number one issue has been maintaining power. In general, why has corruption existed? Because the number one issue has been maintaining power. Why have media outlets been taken over? Because the number one issue has been maintaining power,” he said.

“I want to say now, I hope the citizens of Armenia know that in my agenda, there is no issue of maintaining power. In my agenda, not only is maintaining power not the first point, but there is also no such question at all. If incidentally, that question becomes known in my agenda, I will consider that the path I have taken has been in vain,” he added.

He emphasized the importance of the content and style of discussions on the government's program in the parliament.

“This is an opportunity for us to exert the effort and the energy needed to make qualitative and profound changes in the country, and we should truly use this time for that. Elections will no longer be falsified in Armenia; there is no longer an issue of maintaining power on the agenda of the RA government. The people brought us here, and only the people can remove us,” the Prime Minister declared.
