Everything for Vahe: Will 'My Step' Boycott the President's Candidate Gor Hovhannisyan?
According to the newspaper 'Hraparak', the National Assembly will discuss the election of a constitutional court judge at its meeting on April 16. According to certain sources, the ruling 'My Step' faction intends to boycott the candidate Gor Hovhannisyan presented by President Armen Sarkissian, although those from 'My Step' stated that no discussions have yet been held on this matter and their position will be formed after a meeting with the candidate.
However, according to our sources, everything is being prepared in the government to send Vahe Grigoryan to the Constitutional Court. Incidentally, there is an opinion that by choosing Gor Hovhannisyan instead of Vahe Grigoryan, Armen Sarkissian is making subtle calculations to demonstrate that he is an independent player and does not intend to become an accessory to the government, especially by violating the law.
As is known, the National Assembly has not yet discussed the necessary amendments to the rules of procedure of the National Assembly and the law on the Constitutional Court, after which it would be possible to nominate Vahe Grigoryan again.
It is worth reminding that there was a prohibition on nominating Grigoryan, framed as 'if the candidate's election does not succeed, a new candidate is presented.' This means that after boycotting Gor Hovhannisyan in the National Assembly, Armen Sarkissian will be able to submit Vahe Grigoryan's candidacy for a second time, since the parliament will adopt the package of amendments in the upcoming extraordinary session.
