Producers Presented Valid Arguments: Pashinyan on Fight Against Sugar-Containing Beverages
The authorities of Armenia decided to combat beverages with certain sugar content, as this poses health issues. However, producers provided valid arguments, leading the government to retract its decision. This was stated today during a session of the National Assembly by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
He explained that these beverage manufacturers provided examples showing that the same sugar content exists in candies. Although tobacco and sugar-containing foods are issues that need to be addressed, the government decided to withdraw its decision at this stage.
Pashinyan elaborated that this is also a result of the government’s dialogue, where authorities are open to discussions.
