Karen Karapetyan Buried the Future of Renewable Energy Development in Armenia
The newspaper "Zhamanak" writes: "In the near future, a proposal may emerge in the National Assembly aimed at ensuring the future of solar energy development.
Former Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan buried the future of renewable energy development in Armenia by setting the purchase price for energy from solar power plants at 23 drams, with the purpose of securing the interests of Russian gas lobbying.
For comparison, in Ukraine, a Green tariff is in effect, according to which the electricity produced by residents and supplied to the grid is purchased by the country's distribution networks at 13.04 euro cents, approximately 73 drams. The goal is to enhance the country's energy security and independence, while in Armenia, everything has been done to perpetuate dependence on Russian gas.
If a reasonable price is set for the electricity produced by solar plants in Armenia, it would be possible to significantly reduce dependency on Russian gas and the oligarchs operating around that business in a very short time.
