Updated: Closed and Impassable Roads Exist
The Ministry of Emergency Situations reports that as of 10:00 AM on March 25, there are closed and impassable roads in the territory of Armenia.
The Vardenyats Pass is closed to vehicles with trailers, while it is impassable for cars.
The roads around Spitak and Stepanavan, the section of the Yerevan-Gyumri highway at Lanjik, as well as the inter-community roads in the regions of Ashotq and Amasia, and the Sotk-Karvachar highway are impassable.
In the Aragatsotn region, there is black ice on the inter-community roads of Aparan and Aragats, as well as on the Spitak-Gyumri and Talin-Lanjik-Mastara roads.
In the Syunik region, there is snowfall in the cities of Goris, Kajaran, and in an area known as “Meghru Sar.” Fog is also present in the Meghru Sar area.
Drivers are advised to travel exclusively with winter tires.
Regarding Lars:
According to information received from the Road Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, the Stepantsminda-Lars highway is closed to all types of vehicles.
Information from the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of North Ossetia indicates that there are 179 vehicles accumulated on the Russian side, including 132 freight vehicles and 47 passenger vehicles.
Ongoing Construction Works:
Construction works have been taking place since June 30, 2018, on the 139th km of the Yerevan-Meghri highway, resulting in a unilateral closure of approximately 200 meters.
