Mihran Poghosyan Suggests to the Special Investigation Service to Interrogate Him Via Video Call

Former Member of the National Assembly of Armenia Mihran Poghosyan has been summoned for questioning but did not appear. Furthermore, he has proposed to the Special Investigation Service to interrogate him via video call, as he is currently abroad. This information was confirmed to Sputnik Armenia by the press secretary of the Special Investigation Service, Marina Ohanyan.

“The suggestion for Mihran Poghosyan to be interrogated via video call has been declined, as such a procedure is not provided for by Armenian criminal procedure. The prosecuting body has again invited Mihran Poghosyan for questioning, suggesting he inform them of the timeline for his return to Armenia,” Ohanyan stated to the news outlet. She also noted that the former MP is being summoned as a witness.

It is worth recalling that in May 2016, the Special Investigation Service initiated a criminal case under Article 310 of the Armenian Criminal Code (Illegal participation in entrepreneurial activity, punishable by up to two years of imprisonment), while on January 23, 2017, the Special Investigation Service decided not to pursue criminal charges against Mihran Poghosyan and to terminate the proceedings due to the absence of a crime in his actions.

This January, it became known that the criminal case regarding Mihran Poghosyan's offshore companies registered in Panama has been reopened.
