VIDEO: 14 Million Dram Embezzled from State Budget

Based on operational information received from the National Security Service, collaborative efforts by officers from the main department for combating organized crime of the police, the Lori regional department, and the Tumanyan police station have resulted in the acquisition of factual data indicating that the former head of the Shamluq community in Lori province committed irregularities.

Specifically, using his official position, from January 2007 to October 2017, he issued an order to employ a friend as a driver in the community administration, despite the fact that this individual did not attend work. As a result, a considerable amount of around 8,300,000 dram was embezzled in his name.

Furthermore, the former head of Shamluq, again utilizing his official position, in February 2012, ordered his brother to work as a water line inspector within the community administration, who also did not attend work or fulfill his duties from February 2012 to October 2017. Consequently, a substantial amount of around 6,040,000 dram was embezzled from the community budget as his salary.

As a result, the former head of Shamluq embezzled a significant total of approximately 14,340,000 dram from the community budget between 2007 and 2017.

A criminal case has been initiated on the basis of Article 179 (Embezzlement or Misappropriation) and Article 314 (Official Forgery) of the RA Criminal Code. An investigation is underway.
