One With a Lobby, the Other With Nothing
According to the newspaper "Hraparak," new ARP parliament members have been prohibited from renovating their offices, resulting in some MPs starting and leaving their renovations unfinished. “They said, ‘This summer, all the rooms will be renovated so they look uniform; don’t touch anything,’ and so we are sitting here in solidarity with our assistants,” complained an MP from the "My Step" faction.
However, some have a lobby where their assistants sit, while others have set up a small partition between themselves and their assistants in cramped offices.
Interestingly, MP Taguhi Ghazaryan was assigned a rather spacious office with a “lobby,” formerly belonging to Shmays, which later passed to Samvel Aleksanyan. The saddest situation is found in General Manvel’s former office, where a few work chairs and two small tables remind one of Tarkovsky’s “zone,” in stark contrast to the luxurious decoration that once was, with black leather furniture and a Stalin-era large desk replaced by much simpler arrangements. In this office, modestly sitting side by side are Gagik Tsarukyan's Eduard Babayan and former Minister of Energy Arthur Grigoryan.
The most cheerfully decorated office in the National Assembly belongs to the secretary of the "My Step" faction, Hakob Simidyan, who took refuge during Nikol’s underground days. This office, which previously belonged to Gagik Melikyan during Serzh's time, was quite shabby, as we noticed. “Nothing special has been done; we’ve just settled in with what has been provided,” said Simidyan.
