I Have No Ambitions for Any Position: Armen Amiryan Responds to Hetq Publication
Former Minister of Culture and former Director of Public Radio, Armen Amiryan, has responded on Facebook to recent media publications, particularly regarding his founded company "Ar Radio Intercontinental" LLC, which, according to press reports, has occupied space in the Public Radio building without charge for years and has utilized the radio's property.
"Our company pays 10.6 million drams per year for its lease to the Public Radio, which is more than the offers available for renovated spaces in that area. What is illegal or ethically wrong here? The fact that we rented a severely dilapidated area on the fourth floor in order to help friends, renovated it, and are paying at the upper market rate for it," Amiryan stated.
He also addressed publications about his alleged emigration from Armenia, calling them "absolute nonsense."
"I am a free person and travel abroad every month for business and personal reasons. According to your logic, every month you should write that Amiryan emigrated to Russia, then immigrated back, then emigrated to the USA, and the following month immigrated back again," Amiryan wrote.
Regarding the media outlets spreading rumors about him, Amiryan expressed that they are attempting to further inflame the already agitated sentiments of a segment of society.
"I understand that there will soon be elections for certain positions, and this greatly annoys you. Let me say right away that I have no ambitions for any position. And finally, for the leaders of the mentioned media outlets and other enthusiastic individuals, I repeat a recently fashionable and very relevant phrase on this topic: 'Just sit quietly in your places,'" Amiryan concluded.
