Prime Minister Asks Whether 11,281 Citizens Should Lose Their Benefits
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has made a Facebook post questioning citizens about the potential removal of benefits for 11,281 beneficiaries.
“Today, in Armenia, 11,281 beneficiaries are paying off loans of 100,000 drams or more every month. Some are paying 100,000 drams, others 400,000 drams, and some even 1 million drams. Let me remind you that these individuals are officially considered poor and receive social support of 18,000 to 40,000 drams,” he wrote.
“The state spends about 4.5 billion drams annually to provide benefits to these more than 11,000 people. To increase salaries in the armed forces by 10 percent, the annual requirement is 9 billion drams.”
“So, what do you think, dear compatriots, should the aforementioned 11,281 citizens lose their benefits or not?” he concluded.
