Brutal Murder: Son Kills Mother with Multiple Ax Strikes in Tavush Province
On March 15th, a particularly brutal murder occurred in Tavush Province. Around 12:00 PM, the Ijevan police received a report regarding a woman's body found on the balcony of a house in the village of Aigehovit. This information comes from Shamshyan.com.
According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan from the crime scene, an operational group from the Tavush Police Department, led by Chief Vahe Ghazaryan and Deputy Chief Kamo Tsutsulyan, arrived promptly. The operational group from the Ijevan police station, headed by Chief Georgi Mirzoyan, also responded to the call. Additionally, a team from the Tavush regional investigative department of the Armenian Investigative Committee, led by head Arthur Movsesyan, arrived on the scene.
The police and investigators discovered the body of the homeowner, 80-year-old Osan Simoanyu, on the balcony of the house. According to the preliminary conclusion by the forensic expert, there are signs of multiple ax strikes on the body. While the forensic doctor was conducting the examination on site, Tavush investigators apprehended the victim’s 61-year-old son, Sarkis Simoanyu, on suspicion of committing the murder. Given the degree of danger posed by the crime, the Tavush regional prosecutor and assistant prosecutor also arrived quickly.
The photojournalist also reported that police and investigators discovered the ax, which is believed to be the murder weapon.
