The Hearing on Robert Kocharyan's Pre-Trial Detention Has Been Postponed: Serzh Sargsyan Did Not Testify Against Him

The hearing on the extension of the pre-trial detention of the second President of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan, scheduled for March 13, has been postponed. It is now set for tomorrow at 10:00 AM. This was stated by Kocharyan's lawyer, Hayk Alumyanc, after the session while speaking to reporters.

In response to a question regarding whose testimonies, besides Arshak Karapetyan's, are the basis for the accusations against Kocharyan, Alumyanc noted, “The testimonies of Arshak Karapetyan are not solid enough to build this accusation upon. This is simply an absurd accusation. Any testimony we read shows that it should not serve as a basis for charges. It is becoming increasingly clear to us that there is simply a directive to resolve this issue forcibly, meaning sending the case to court and pressuring the court enough so that a guilty verdict is reached.”

Alumyanc also mentioned that Serzh Sargsyan did not testify against the second President. “Serzh Sargsyan has provided testimony in the context of the case; however, he did not testify against Robert Kocharyan,” he stated.
