Government Has Not Paid Salaries of Levon Ter-Petrosyan's Office Staff Since January 1: 'Hayots Ashkharh'
'Hayots Ashkharh' newspaper reports: 'According to our information, the Armenian government has not paid the salaries of the employees at the office of the first President of Armenia, Levon Ter-Petrosyan, since January 1 of this year. It should be noted that this concerns the salaries of three employees. Based on the Government of Armenia's decision 856-N dated August 2, 2018, funding for the office of the former president is carried out from the financial resources allocated under the relevant expenditure program of the Prime Minister’s staff, in accordance with the budget confirmed by Armenian legislation. Hence, the government of Nikol Pashinyan has not paid the employees of the founder president's office.
In an interview with 'Hayots Ashkharh', the head of the first president's office, Avetis Avagyan, confirmed this information, but advised checking with the government for the reasons.
The head of the Prime Minister's Office, Eduard Aghajanyan, in response to our question, stated that the issue is purely technical: 'A relevant letter from the Prime Minister's Office should be sent to the staff, which has not arrived. This is a procedural issue.'
It is noteworthy that the staff of the other two former presidents, Robert Kocharyan and Serzh Sargsyan, have received their salaries from the government without any issues during this period.
By the way, the situation is unprecedented; even during the presidencies of Robert Kocharyan and Serzh Sargsyan, despite the power conflicts with Ter-Petrosyan, his office was financed by the law established procedure.'
