VIDEO: Director of 'Gyumri Without Shacks' Fund Dismissed from Position
The director of the 'Gyumri Without Shacks' Fund, Mher Khachatryan, has been dismissed from his position. This decision was made today by the board of trustees of the fund. Felix Grigoryan, the chairman of the board, informed SHANTNEWS.am of this development.
Almost all members of the board voted in favor of the decision to remove the director. "Out of the 21 members of the board of trustees, 18 participated in today’s meeting. Mher Khachatryan was removed from his position based on the voting results. There were no votes against. I abstained, while all others voted in favor. A corresponding protocol has been drawn up. Mher himself was not present at the meeting. I personally informed him that he should attend, but he responded that it would be more appropriate to hold the meeting without him. A temporary replacement for the director was also elected during the meeting. Board members do not have the right to be elected to this position. Gevorg Grigoryan was chosen as the temporary director, who is not a member of the board. He has previously worked at the Gyumri City Hall and at the Polytechnic University. Of course, the reason for this decision was the situation that had developed in the fund recently,” said Felix Grigoryan, the chairman of the board.
It is noteworthy that Mher Khachatryan, the former director of the fund, had previously stated that in 2017, former director Garib Harutyunyan presented a fraudulent report to the board, which he claims is evidence of financial misconduct.
The decision to dismiss him was followed by a Facebook post from the former director, in which he stated:
"From the moment the board of trustees of the 'Gyumri Without Shacks' Fund announced the positive conclusion of the internal audit while turning a blind eye to glaring facts, it was clear to me that the next step would be my dismissal. And that is exactly what happened. On 12.03.2019, a decision was made to remove me from the position of director. However, this does not mean that I will stop my fight for justice. I am now posting the complete video of my last press conference, where I elaborated on all the details of the topic. And since I am no longer constrained in my actions by the board of trustees, I will be presenting new evidence of alleged misconduct to the public in due course..."
Along with the post, he also shared the video of the press conference.
