Russian Foreign Ministry Warns Citizens Traveling to Azerbaijan of Potential Risks
The Russian Foreign Ministry has warned its citizens of potential risks when planning to travel to Azerbaijan, particularly those with Armenian roots.
In a statement issued by the ministry, it specifically mentions that the risks are associated with the unresolved Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
“Azerbaijan continues to prohibit entry to individuals who have direct or distant Armenian roots, regardless of their citizenship,” the statement reads. The Azerbaijani side explains this by asserting that it cannot guarantee the safety of these individuals.
“Numerous appeals from the Russian side regarding the unacceptable nature of discriminatory treatment based on ethnic affiliation towards Russian citizens have been rejected by the Azerbaijani side,” the Russian Foreign Ministry noted, urging its citizens to assess the potential risks when planning a trip to Azerbaijan.
