VIDEO: 'Mowgli Girl' Found in Moscow

In an apartment on Leningrad Avenue in Moscow, police and rescuers saved a 5-year-old girl from imminent death. According to gazeta.ru, her mother had locked her in a house filled with garbage and disappeared for several days.

The sound of the child's cries prompted neighbors to call the police and rescuers.

Since the girl is still unable to speak at this age, despite having a healthy vocal apparatus, she has been dubbed the 'Mowgli Girl' in Moscow. She lacks age-appropriate skills, cannot dress herself independently, and even struggles to eat and drink properly. The report indicates that a cross was tied around her neck, which had fused under her skin alongside her growth, covered by a thin layer of skin.

The child's 47-year-old mother, who works as a cleaner, has since been arrested. The girl is currently in intensive care, and a medical team has been created to provide her treatment.
