A Slap or Yellow Card to Armenian Authorities: Sharmazanov's Assessment

The spokesperson of the Republican Party of Armenia and former Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Eduard Sharmazanov, wrote on his Facebook page:

“Artsakh has never been and will never be part of Azerbaijan. This is our answer to Chamberlain.

I read the statement of the co-chairs of the Minsk Group. Let’s note:

• First, the co-chairs have issued a statement that is essentially a slap or a yellow card to the Armenian authorities.
• If after the April war the co-chairs stated that Artsakh must participate in the final phase of negotiations, now they are directly hitting Prime Minister Pashinyan’s position by insisting the opposite.
• This is primarily due to the unserious and populist policies of our newly formed government.
• It is clear that our positions have weakened in the negotiation process.
• Regardless of the mistakes of the authorities, we must not allow an unfavorable resolution of the Artsakh issue.

This is evident. Artsakh has never been and will never be part of Azerbaijan. This is our answer to Chamberlain.”
