Government Approves Controversial Bill: 12 Ministries Instead of 17
The government approved a package of draft laws on changes and amendments to the law on the structure and activities of the government at its meeting today, March 7.
Justice Minister Artak Zeynalyan presented the matter, stating that the aim of the package is to create a more efficient government structure in a functional sense.
It is noted that the draft stipulates the following composition and structure of the government:
- The government consists of the Prime Minister, two Deputy Prime Ministers, and Ministers.
The structure of the government will include the following ministries:
- Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs,
- Ministry of Health,
- Ministry of Justice,
- Ministry of Emergency Situations,
- Ministry of Foreign Affairs,
- Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports,
- Ministry of Environment,
- Ministry of Defense,
- Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure,
- Ministry of High-Tech Industry,
- Ministry of Economy,
- Ministry of Finance.
The position of the First Deputy Prime Minister will be eliminated, resulting in a decrease from three Deputy Prime Ministers to two.
The number of ministries will be reduced from 17 to 12.
