Do Not Fall Into the Trap of the 'Only Opposition', Do Not Zombify: Gevorg Achemian
The former managing director of the Prime Minister's Office, Gevorg Achemian, wrote on his Facebook page: “Two active forces stand out in the current opposition political field’s colorful spectrum: the ‘Sasna Tsrer’ party and Robert Kocharyan (with his supporters).
‘Citizen's Decision’ and ‘National Progress’, as they say, still have an agenda to build public trust and/or gain some recognition. The next five years present a good opportunity for them. They must choose a more distinctive political strategy. Mandarin and sharp nationalism, to put it in marketing terms, do not attract the consumer. No, I do not imply that Robert Kocharyan enjoys public support, but it is more than clear that he is known and his supporters can dictate the political agenda today. As for ‘Bright Armenia’ and ‘Prosperous Armenia’, I believe it is unnecessary to mention them. In five years, you will all forget about them. Such opposition political forces practically do not exist, as they serve narrow personal/group interests, a thesis that I have proven numerous times.
Now, how should the citizens of the Republic of Armenia orient themselves in this complex situation? The answer is straightforward: do not fall into the trap of the ‘only opposition’, that is, do not zombify and evaluate things with as cool a head as possible. In public discussions, it is not about screaming ‘this or that Prime Minister, leave’, but about forming a national, collective work agenda. Just like in Iceland. That’s all.”
