Shocking Discovery in Gegharkunik Region: 48-Year-Old Man Burned Alive
The Gegharkunik regional investigative department of the Armenian Investigative Committee is preparing materials regarding the death of 48-year-old N.E., a resident of Vardenis, which occurred on February 8, 2013. On that day, N.E.'s body was taken to the Vardenis hospital with burns. This information has been reported by Shamshyan.com.
According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, on March 2, operational information was received at the Vardenis police department indicating that between mid-December 2012 and February 7, 2013, N.E. had brought rocks to his home to extract gold from the "Geo-Promining Gold" company in the Gegharkunik region in cooperation with 35-year-old S.S., a fellow resident, and 43-year-old A.N. On February 7, N.E. went to the gold mine again, where a dispute broke out with S.S. During the argument, based on operational data obtained, S.S. poured gasoline on N.E. and set him on fire, leading to N.E.'s death from the burns.
According to the photojournalist's information, on February 8, S.S. attempted to create a false crime scene by transporting an unidentified vehicle to the area known as "Bozey Gorner" in Vardenis, burning a red sports outfit to suggest that N.E. had filled the vehicle's gas tank with gasoline, which supposedly caused the fire and turned N.E. into a victim of an unfortunate incident. G. Shamshyan reports that this information was obtained through the work of the criminal investigation and community police of the Vardenis police department. It is not excluded that exhumation of the body may be possible.
