Dialysis Process at Vanadzor Medical Center Will Not Stop: Torosyan
The State Oversight Service of Armenia continues to study the hemodialysis market, regardless of whose interests are being affected, stated David Sanasaryan, head of the service, during a press conference following today's government meeting.
"There has not been a competitive market. Specifically, the Grigor Lusavorich Medical Center has only served one organization. We have made a proposal, and as a result of our proposal, 8-9 organizations participated in the competition—this is the first time. The market has opened for the first time, and various firms have participated," he said.
In response to the statement made by the head of the Vanadzor Medical Center regarding problems with hemodialysis machines and the significant issues arising from the Oversight Service's actions, David Sanasaryan declared that all this is false and there is no such problem.
Health Minister Arsen Torosyan also addressed the concerns of citizens receiving hemodialysis. He stated that he spoke with the director of the Vanadzor Medical Center, who assured him that the 65 citizens receiving hemodialysis would not experience interruptions starting March 1.
The minister wrote on his Facebook page: "I just spoke with the director of the Vanadzor Medical Center to clarify whether our 65 citizens receiving hemodialysis would have interruptions starting March 1 due to the depletion of consumable materials. He assured me that they would expedite purchases as required by law, and the dialysis process will not stop."
He also made a request to all those interested in this topic. "Please remember that hemodialysis is a life-saving, complex, and risky intervention for individuals with renal failure, performed every other day, and delaying it even by one day can result in the patient's death. Currently, we have about 1,000 patients receiving dialysis at 13 private and public medical institutions in Armenia.
Furthermore, to improve the quality of life for these patients, we are actively working on the development of renal transplantation, further information will be provided on this."
