The House of Yeghishe Charents Demolished in Kars

According to a report from a tourist organization that organizes tours in Western Armenia, the building traditionally considered to be the house of the great Armenian poet Yeghishe Charents has been demolished in Kars under unclear circumstances, as reported by Ermenihaber.

Every year, thousands of Armenian tourists visit this site located near the Kars fortress to pay their respects to the genius poet.

Yeghishe Charents mentions this house in his famous poem "My Personal Song":

"Leaving my house built of unhewn stone on the riverbank in Kars,
Kars left behind, the gardens of Kars and my native sky."
