Video: Embezzlement of 8 Million Drams Discovered at Gyumri Chess School
Based on operational information received from the National Security Service of Armenia, a new case of embezzlement of particularly large amounts has been uncovered in Gyumri, thanks to the cooperation of the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Department of the Police’s Organized Crime Prevention Unit, the Shirak Regional Division, and the Kumayri Division.
The law enforcement agencies determined through extensive operational and investigative measures that the director of the Gyumri Chess School, abusing his official position between October 2013 and September 2018, issued employment orders for four individuals who, in reality, did not attend work during various periods. The salaries awarded to these individuals, amounting to approximately 8 million drams in total, were embezzled.
A criminal case has been initiated regarding the embezzlement or misuse of funds.
Measures are being taken to clarify all the circumstances of the case.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
