Police Officials Have Found Themselves in the Dock

The "Joghvorud" newspaper reports that the head of the Armavir branch of the Police Protection Service, the department's female accountant, and the assistant to the squad commander of the same department have found themselves in the dock.

The newspaper learned that Khosrov Androyan has been charged with embezzlement. He is accused of having misappropriated substantial funds transferred to and collected on the accounts of several police officers and military units from the state budget while serving as the head of the Armavir branch from January 2016 to May 2018, together with the accountant Gayane Arshakyan and the assistance of squad commander Ara Asatryan. During this period, Khosrov Androyan and Gayane Arshakyan misappropriated a total of 53.5 million AMD that was entrusted to them.

Gayane Arshakyan has also been charged with misappropriating 15.2 million AMD while holding the position of accountant for the Armavir branch, as per the employment contract signed with the head of the Police Protection Service, Minasian, on May 13, 2016.

Ara Asatryan is also among those accused.

It is noteworthy that the preliminary investigation body has charged them under the first part of the third article of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia (embezzlement or waste in a large amount is punishable by a fine from five hundred to one thousand times the minimum wage, or imprisonment for a term of two to five years, with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a maximum of three years or without it).
