Roads Closed and Impassable: Update

The Ministry of Emergency Situations reports that as of February 23 at 21:30, there are closed and impassable roads in the territory of Armenia.

The Vardenyats Pass is closed for trucks with trailers, while it is difficult for passenger vehicles to navigate.

The Sotk-Karvachar road is also impassable.

In the Aparan region of Aragatsotn Province, there are areas with black ice.

Drivers are advised to travel exclusively on winter tires.

About Lars

According to the information received from the Road Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, the stepantsminda-Lars road is open for all types of vehicles.

Information from the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry in North Ossetia indicates that there are piled-up vehicles on the Russian side.

Construction Works Underway

Construction works are being carried out from the 39th km of the Vanadzor-Alaverdi road to the section leading to Bagratashen.

Alternative routes for transportation have been established:

Intra-community transportation to the towns of Alaverdi, Vanadzor, and nearby settlements should be carried out via:

• Vanadzor-Stepanavan-Agarak-Koghes-Aygehath-Odzun-Alaverdi route through the sections leading to the Georgian border.

Since June 30, 2018, construction work has been ongoing at the 139th km of the Yerevan-Meghri road, resulting in a one-sided closure for approximately 200 m.
