106-Year-Old Armenian Woman Who Survived the Genocide Passes Away
In Argentina, 106-year-old Lusine Berejiklian de Khacheryan, one of the last survivors of the Armenian Genocide, has passed away. This was reported by Rusarminfo, referencing the Armenian-Argentine publication “Prensa Armenia.”
Berejiklian was noted as a prominent figure in the Armenian community of Argentina.
According to documents, Lusine Berejiklian was born in 1909 in the city of Aintab (now Gaziantep, Turkey).
During the years of the genocide, Berejiklian's family fled to Syria. At the age of 16, she moved from Syria to Argentina with her brothers and sister.
“It is better to not remember the Genocide. It is impossible to sleep because of those memories,” Lusine Berejiklian stated in an interview with the Argentine publication “Clarín” in 2015.
