Arsen Torosyan Will Have to Answer Many Questions: A Difficult Day Awaits Him

According to the "Zhoghovurd" newspaper, today is expected to be quite difficult for Armenia's Minister of Health, Arsen Torosyan. As per the information from the newspaper, he has been invited to meet with the members of the "My Step" parliamentary group.

It is expected that the deputies will question the minister in detail, considering the existing problems and gaps in the sector. Recently, the minister announced the implementation of very important and significantly large-scale programs, including free surgeries for malignant tumors and free treatment for stroke patients.

Despite the fact that his initiatives were indeed anticipated and extremely necessary, there are a number of uncertainties and issues associated with the mechanisms for their implementation. Accordingly, the minister still needs to present in detail the mechanisms for implementing the proposed program. Additionally, there are serious problems in the regions regarding the operation of healthcare institutions, ranging from building conditions to the lack of qualified personnel in medical facilities.

The mechanisms for implementing mandatory health insurance in Armenia are not clear. Furthermore, it has been revealed that Minister Torosyan has increased the state funding allocated to his affiliated "MIBS" medical center by about twofold. While the "MIBS" medical center received 25 million drams in 2018, this year it is set to receive 57 million 37 thousand drams, a situation that could even be considered a manifestation of corruption. Hence, Arsen Torosyan will have to answer many questions, and it will be quite heated within the "My Step" faction.
