Who is the new candidate for Minister of Finance? Again from the old 'forge'.

According to the newspaper '168 Hours', the searches for a candidate for the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Armenia have once again come to a standstill around a former official from the previous government.

The candidacy of Vahram Mirumyan, who served as the deputy to the former head of the State Revenue Committee (SRC) Gagik Khachatryan, is being considered for the position of Minister of Finance. This information was provided by a source close to the government to 168.am.

Mirumyan's candidacy was proposed by one of the members of the 'My Step' faction, while the initiative to meet with the candidate was taken up by one of the government’s representative figures. It is not excluded that the invitation for the meeting with Vahram Mirumyan was made straight from Tigran Avinyan’s office.

Incidentally, Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan is the only member of the current administration with personal old ties to senior officials of the former government and, according to unverified information, he occasionally reaches out and engages with certain members of the former leadership, consulting on work-related matters.

Our source did not have details regarding the meeting with Mirumyan. We tried to learn about the results of the meeting directly from V. Mirumyan, but his phone was switched off, and we were unable to find him at the 'Gazprom Armenia' office.

Recall that days ago, '168 Hours' reported on the government's preparedness and reasons for finding a successor for Minister of Finance Atom Janjughazyan. Apparently, the only candidate whose name is being discussed within Prime Minister Pashinyan's cabinet is once again from the old 'forge'.

It should be noted that after the 'Velvet' Revolution, the former deputy head of the SRC and former Deputy Minister of Finance Vahram Mirumyan moved to one of the largest taxpayers, being appointed as Deputy General Director of 'Gazprom Armenia' responsible for commerce and external relations.
