Marutyan Has No Bodyguards, Like His Predecessor

The newspaper 'Hraparak' reports that former Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan traveled for years in a Mercedes S-Class with the registration number 001 LU 01. He was accompanied by a Nissan with police registration, outfitted with flashing lights, used by Margaryan's bodyguards.

The newly elected Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan does not have security personnel, and he even drives his official car himself. Sometimes he uses the Mercedes left by his predecessor, but more often opts for a compact crossover of the Nissan Qashqai model. He arrived in that vehicle for the opening of the Holiday Inn hotel yesterday, parking it several streets away.

When asked about the fate of the former mayor's bodyguards and the vehicle with flashing lights, Marutyan seemed surprised, saying, 'Honestly, I don't know; I haven't interested myself in that matter.'
