VIDEO: Law Enforcement Uncovers Corruption Offense
As a result of inter-agency cooperation, a corruption-related crime was uncovered in Ushu. The Police Information Department reports that several officials from the Ushu community in the Aragatsotn province embezzled over 3.2 million drams between 2017 and 2019, exploiting their official positions.
It has been revealed that the officials misappropriated 1,430,000 drams that were issued under the name of a person registered as a cleaner in the community administration since September 2017, and an additional 820,000 drams withdrawn from the community budget under the pretext of purchasing construction materials for the improvement of Ushu in November of that year.
It was also discovered that under the pretext of providing financial assistance to socially disadvantaged residents of the community, around 17 citizens' applications and signatures were forged in 2017-18, resulting in around 950,000 drams being embezzled.
A criminal case has been initiated regarding the incident.
An investigation is underway.
