The Condition of the Twins Found in a Bag Has Deteriorated: Details

On October 17, 2018, the twins found in a polyethylene bag in Gyumri are still residing at the ‘Gyumri Fridtjof Nansen Children’s Care and Protection No. 2 Night Shelter’. The little ones are now 4 months old, and despite their mother stating she would take them into her care, she has not yet done so. Little Vahe and Vahan are in the orphanage, but their mother visits them regularly.

Press officer Sona Martirosyan from the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs told ‘Haykakan Zhamanak’ that some time ago, the health condition of the twins had slightly deteriorated, and they were hospitalized, but they have since recovered, and both are currently in normal condition.

The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs has reported on what social support measures have been taken for the 18-year-old mother of the twins and whether the process of providing her with housing is underway. Sona Martirosyan stated that she has no information regarding the housing situation, adding that this matter does not fall within the ministry's functions.

It is worth recalling that earlier, the former Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Mane Tandilyan, had informed HZ that the mother of the twins lives in rented accommodation in Yerevan and that the ministry is considering various possibilities to provide her with housing in the capital.
