We Hoped That Azerbaijan Would Stop Aggressive Rhetoric: Ruben Rubinyan

“If we truly want an effective negotiating process, if we want dialogue around peace, the appropriate atmosphere must be created,” said Ruben Rubinyan, the head of the Foreign Relations Permanent Commission of the National Assembly of Armenia, in response to Azerbaijani President Aliyev's recent statements.

Rubinyan added that the atmosphere for peace dialogue can only be ensured by excluding aggressive rhetoric and aggressive actions. “The Armenian side has never been characterized by aggression; we hoped that Azerbaijan would cease its aggressive rhetoric, but this example, unfortunately, shows that that hope has not been justified,” he noted.

It is worth mentioning that Aliyev stated: “I have always said that the use of force is now coming to the forefront. International law is being grossly violated in various parts of the world. The principle of 'whoever is strong is also right' dominates the world. We have been strengthening our economic and military power for many years. This seems to prepare us for the current situation; we are now ready for it.”
