Drug Trafficker Becomes Consultant in Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The newspaper "Zhamanak" reports: "A recent competition was held for vacant positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), in which a very experienced, knowledgeable, and irreplaceable figure participated. In this case, the word 'competition' is merely formal, as there is no competition against him, and he is exempt from all contests.

This refers to Zhorik (Georgi) Muradyan, who was sentenced for drug trafficking and smoothly transitioned into a consultant role under Tigran Avinyan in the new government, having previously served as an assistant-consultant to Hovik Abrahamyan.

By the decision of the MFA's competitive-qualifying commission, Muradyan has become a consultant in the MFA. There are serious complaints about this within the MFA, especially since Zhorik was admitted into the MFA system under the patronage of Hovik Abrahamyan and was immediately appointed as the Consul General in Odessa, after which he returned to Hovik Abrahamyan as a consultant.

Franklin Gonzalez – Narek Sargsyan, who is well-acquainted with Georgi Muradyan, wrote: 'I know what I have been through, and finally, the first step has been taken.'

Considering the practice of selecting ambassadors and consuls during Serzh Sargsyan's time, it cannot be ruled out that Gonzalez-Sargsyan influenced this appointment through his two uncles. Georgi Muradyan's fate now seems much more predictable: he will be dispatched as a diplomat to Avinyan's office, and if, God forbid, he is removed from there, he has a warm spot in some prosperous country, at least as a consultant, and perhaps even as an ambassador, since he has effective experience from his work as Consul General.
