Details of the Billiard Club Incident: Two of the Arrested Individuals are Brothers
The Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia has reported that four individuals have been arrested in connection with a criminal case initiated for hooliganism involving the use of weapons and intentionally causing severe bodily harm to another person's life.
Recall that on January 21, 2019, residents born in 1985 and 1977 were taken to the hospital with various bodily injuries.
During the preparatory materials, it was revealed that on January 20, 2019, around 11 PM, a group of unknown individuals flagrantly violated public order at a billiard club operating on Peace Don Street in Yerevan. They displayed blatant disrespect toward society while committing violence against the two residents born in 1985 and 1977, damaging property of the club and using a sharp cutting and stabbing tool as well as a firearm.
A criminal case was initiated on January 21, 2019, under Articles 112, 258, and 235 of the RA Criminal Code.
An investigative group has been formed, and an investigative plan has been developed. Joint urgent investigative and operational-intelligence measures carried out in collaboration with officials from the Investigative Committee and the Police have clarified several circumstances and motives regarding the incident. Interrogations have been conducted, and data has been collected regarding individuals involved in the incident at the billiard club on Peace Don Street.
The investigation revealed that the victims are cousins. One of them, a 1985-born young man, got into a dispute regarding household issues with another young man while buying flowers at one of the flower shops in Yerevan on January 20, 2019. At that moment, 8-10 individuals approached them, recognizing the young man, intervened in the conversation, and subsequently, the parties agreed to meet later for clarification.
On the day of the incident, around 11 PM, the two sides met at the billiard club where a dispute arose, resulting in the cousins being transported to the hospital with various bodily injuries.
During the investigation, it became known that the participants of the incident at the billiard club agreed to meet on February 8, 2019, for clarification on "demanding an account" and seeking revenge.
In order to prevent possible serious and particularly serious crimes, it was decided to neutralize the parties involved and detain them.
Last night, eight individuals were detained on suspicion of hooliganism involving the use of weapons and intentionally causing severe bodily harm to another person, four of whom were arrested. Two of the arrested individuals are brothers.
A search of a "Toyota Camry" vehicle belonging to one of them revealed an "AKM" type rifle with a caliber of 7.62 mm, loaded with 27 bullets, a "PM" type pistol loaded with 8 bullets, a factory box containing 18 bullets of 9 mm caliber intended for firing from the "PM" type pistol, one bullet of a 5.45 mm caliber rifle, and a greenish substance in a cartridge.
A personal search of the other brother revealed two fired cartridges of 9 mm caliber and two cartridges containing dark brown liquid from the pocket of his coat.
Over 15 searches have been conducted as part of the criminal case. The investigation is ongoing, and additional information will be provided.
