Members of 'Kurdistan Workers' Party' Arrested with Azerbaijani Passports

The chief editor of the Azerbaijani opposition newspaper 'Azadliq' ('Freedom'), Ganimat Zahidov, has reported on his Facebook page that ten employees from Azerbaijan's passport department have been dismissed for selling Azerbaijani passports to foreign citizens.

According to ermenihaber.am, Zahidov stated that among the foreigners who received Azerbaijani passports are numerous members of the 'Kurdistan Workers' Party' (PKK), some of whom are from Iraq. It has been reported that these 'citizens' were initially held at the 'Ramada' hotel in Baku before being sent to European countries. The information was uncovered in Europe, where it was revealed that the passports in question are counterfeit.

Interestingly, the Ramada hotel is owned by Beylar Eyubov, the chief of security for the Azerbaijani president. G. Zahid noted that previously, the issuance of passports to PKK members in Azerbaijan was overseen by the Minister of National Security, Eldar Mahmudov, and after the dissolution of the ministry, the responsibility was transferred to B. Eyubov at the direct instruction of Ilham Aliyev.
