An Open Letter from a Student to Nikol Pashinyan

Student and activist Gegham Adyan wrote on his Facebook page: “An open letter to the Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan. Mr. Pashinyan, during and since the revolution, you continue to repeat that the power is the servant of the people because power now belongs to the people. I believe that these words come from you sincerely, but regarding the Amulsar issue, the government seems to be deaf, and in your absence, the Minister of Territorial Administration and Development is trying to pressure the Jermuk council to revoke the previous decision which prohibits metallic mining in the Jermuk area.

You are well aware of what the people think regarding the exploitation of this mine and what a significant wave of protests will arise if the mine is, indeed, exploited. I urge you, even while being abroad, to bring order to the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Development, which is acting against the self-governing body elected by the people of Jermuk—the council.”
