Lavish Bonuses in Aragatsotn Province

The "Hraarak" newspaper reports: "Aragatsotn Province Governor Davit Gevorgyan is not immune to the temptation of awarding himself and the regional administration staff. Despite being appointed in October, at the end of December, he rewarded himself and his advisory assistants, who have only worked for a month, with bonuses equivalent to 100% of their salary. However, according to our sources, he urged that this decree not be posted on the province’s official website.

Yesterday, we were unable to obtain a comment from the governor as he did not answer calls throughout the day. When he finally did respond, he expressed annoyance at being interrupted during a meeting. In contrast, his deputy, Artsvik Nikoghosyan from the Prosperous Armenia Party, confirmed that the governor indeed awarded himself a bonus equivalent to one full salary. "I also know that our Prime Minister has requested a list of all those who were awarded; you can inquire further with them regarding the others," he stated.
