Azerbaijan Sends Protest Note to Tbilisi Over Installation of Artsakh Hero's Statue in Akhalkalaki

Baku has sent a protest note to Tbilisi regarding the installation of a statue of Mihail Avagyan, a hero of the Artsakh war, in the Bughashen neighborhood of Akhalkalaki. This was reported by Грузия Online.

The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry summoned Georgia's ambassador to Azerbaijan, Zurab Pataradze, and demanded that immediate measures be taken concerning this incident, which they claim does not correspond to the nature of bilateral strategic relations.

Additionally, Azerbaijan's ambassador in Georgia, Dursun Gasanova, had a meeting on the same issue at the Georgian Foreign Ministry and conveyed Baku's protest.

It is noteworthy that in the Samtskhe-Javakheti region of Georgia, where a significant Armenian population resides, a monument honoring Mihail Avagyan, who died during the Artsakh liberation struggle, was unveiled on January 20.
