Traders Ready to Block Bagratashen Customs Point Again

Citizens of Armenia importing goods from Turkey blocked the entrance and exit of the Bagratashen customs point yesterday, citing that they are not allowed to pass 25 kg of goods.

In an interview with 168 am, they stated that they are planning to block the entrance and exit of the customs point again today until the issue is resolved.

When asked if it is true that some traders are trying to "deceive" the state and not report that 75 kg in their freight vehicle, for example, belongs to them and not to a neighbor, thus avoiding customs duties, they responded that such things do happen. "If there is a lot of merchandise, we are ready to pay," they said, adding that they were allowed to import such amounts 10 days ago knowing everything.

It should be noted that since January 1, 2019, the monetary value of imported goods exempt from customs duties and taxes has decreased by three times, while the weight limit has been halved. The changes are outlined in the decision number 107 of the Eurasian Economic Commission Council from December 20, 2017, and amended by decision number 91 from November 1, 2018.
