Fog, Black Ice, and Closed or Impassable Roads

As of January 18, at 08:30, there are impassable and closed roads across the territory of Armenia.

The Vardenyats Pass is closed. The section known as 'Meghrur Sar' is closed for heavy vehicles due to fog, while it is difficult to traverse for passenger vehicles.

The Sotk-Karvachar road is also impassable, along with the roads leading to the villages of Lanjik-Mastara and the regions of Mirak, Tcharjik at Aragatsotn.

There are instances of black ice on the Lanjik-Mastara route, as well as on the roads in the regions of Ashotzk and Amasia in Shirak, and the areas of Aparan and Aragatsotn.

Drivers are advised to travel exclusively on winter tires.

About Lars

According to information received from the Road Department of Georgia’s Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure, the Stepantsminda-Lars road is closed for all types of vehicles due to the risk of snowdrifts.

According to the information from the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations for the Republic of North Ossetia, there are 137 heavy trucks, 99 passenger vehicles, and 1 bus accumulated on the Russian side.

Construction Works Ongoing

Construction works are being conducted from kilometer 39 to Bagratashen on the Vanadzor-Alaverdi road.

For local transportation to the cities of Alaverdi, Vanadzor, and nearby settlements, take:

1. Vanadzor-Stepanavan-Agarak-Koghes-Aigahat-Odzun-Alaverdi via the sections leading to the Georgian border.

Since June 30, 2018, construction works have been carried out on the 139th km of the Yerevan-Meghri road, resulting in a 200 m section being closed to one-way traffic.
