Snow and Blizzard on Roads in Armenia: Ministry of Transport Issues Warning
The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technologies of the Republic of Armenia reports that as of January 17, at 15:00, there is snowfall in the regions of Sevan, Hrazdan, Novoberian, Ijevan, Chambarak, Tashir, Ashotsk, Akhuryan, Artik, Stepanavan, Lori, Spitak, Aragats, Aparan, Talin, Maralik, Ararat, Sisian, Goris, and Meghri.
The section of the road from Ashotsk to Bavra, as well as the Keti mountain pass, are impassable due to heavy blizzard conditions and low visibility.
There is a blizzard in the road networks of the Ashotsk and Artik regions, with visibility reduced to 30-50 meters in the Jajur mountain pass. The Vardenyats mountain pass is impassable for passenger vehicles, while heavy-duty and trailer vehicles are prohibited from passing.
Road construction teams are actively engaged in snow clearing and treatment with salt and sand on the roadways.
Other interstate and republican roads remain open.
