Several Roads Closed and Difficult to Navigate in Armenia

The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Armenia reports that as of January 10 at 08:00, several roads in the country are closed or difficult to navigate.

The Vardenyats Pass is closed due to a snowstorm, and the intercommunity roads between the villages of Sipan, Avshen, and Charjik in the Aragatsotn Province, as well as the Madina-Veghin Getashen road, are also closed. The Sotk-Karmiravan road is closed for vehicles with trailers, while it is difficult for other vehicles to traverse. The intercommunity roads of the villages of Ashotzk and Amasia in the Shirak Province are impassable, as is the section of the M-3 highway from Yerevan to Aparan.

There are patches of black ice on the Stepanavan-Odzun road and in the Spitak bends, as well as in the Aragats area of the Aragatsotn Province and the Ashotzk area of the Shirak Province. Drivers are advised to travel in the regions exclusively with winter tires. According to information received from the Road Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, the Stepantsminda-Larsi road is closed for all types of vehicles.

According to the information from the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation in North Ossetia, there are 170 trucks and 36 passenger cars accumulated on the Russian side.
