Son Arrested in Connection with Father's Murder

The investigation department of the Syunik regional investigative committee has charged a 21-year-old resident in connection with the murder case in Sisian.

As previously reported, on January 6, 2019, at 17:50, the Sisian police received a call from the "Sisian Medical Center" about a murder that occurred in the village of Brnakot, within the Sisian community of Syunik.

According to preliminary investigation, at around 17:00 on January 6, 2019, during a domestic dispute at one of the houses on Street No. 12 in the Brnakot community of Sisian, a resident born in 1997 approached his father, born in 1967, with a kitchen knife and inflicted injury to the neck.

He then struck the 51-year-old man twice with a brick from the stove, and subsequently stabbed his father's chest area four times with another kitchen knife, resulting in his death.

A criminal case was initiated on January 6, 2019, under the first part of Article 104 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia.

On the same day at 23:20, the 21-year-old was arrested on suspicion of murder.

On January 9, 2019, charges were brought against the resident born in 1997 under the relevant provisions of Article 104 of the Criminal Code. The investigator submitted a motion to the court to choose custody as a measure of restraint, which was granted.

Investigations of the crime scene and the body have been conducted. The knives used in the crime were seized from the scene. Forensic and post-mortem examinations have been ordered.

The investigation is ongoing.
